Senator Salazar of Colorado and Senate Kyl of Arizona agreed that there are moral issues at heart of this immigration debate and the Senate needs to come up with an immigration system that will make our border is secure and that they correct the system of lawlessness and chaos that currently runs the immigration system. They both mentioned instances of illegal immigrants putting their own lives in danger to enter the country and that there is a need to find a legal way for people to come to the United States, while also protecting the border. Senator Salazar said he is hopeful that there will be a vote on additional amendments this week and that there is progress being made on this bill.
