Forestry

The forestry title reauthorizes the Renewable Resources Extension Act through 2007 at $30 million annually and creates a Sustainable Forestry Outreach Initiative within the RREA.

NEW!  Forest Land Enhancement Program (FLEP): The farm bill creates a new, $100 million cost-share program similar to the Environmental Quality Incentives Program.   FLEP will provide funds for the establishment, management, maintenance, enhancement, and restoration of working forestson non-industrial private forest lands. 

    *  Community and Private Land Fire Assistance Program:   The bill also creates a Community and Private Land Fire Assistance Program enabling the Secretary to undertake a diversity of activities aimed at preventing fires on both federal and non- federal lands.
