H.R.1997, the Unborn Victims of Violence Bill

Senator Frist is discussing
what the Senate has accomplished this past week, including the passage of
the Unborn Victims of Violence Act. The Senate has now adjourned until
1:00 on Monday, March 29.
11:45 A.M.
Senator Bill Frist of
Tennessee is defending the Bush Administration's record on terrorism and
its approach to both the war on terrorism and the war in Iraq.
10:45 A.M.
Senator Mark Dayton of
Minnesota is expressing his belief that the whole country will be better
off if the investigation of the 9/11 Commission is left untouched by
politics. In addition, he is talking about the importance of passing
the JOBS bill that was being debated this past week. While there was
bipartisan support to pass a JOBS bill, the parties clashed over an
amendment offered by Senator Tom Harkin, which protected the overtime pay
of workers. Senator Dayton is comparing the disappearance of the debate on
the JOBS bill on the Senate floor to a magic act and saying that it is
fitting with the Administration's record of disappearing jobs.
10:30 A.M.
Senator John Cornyn of Texas,
a member of the Senate Judicairy Committee, has come to the floor to speak
about judicial nominations. However, prior to discussing this topic, he is
choosing to respond to comments made previously by Senator Tom Daschle
about Richard Clarke, a former terrorism advisor in the Clinton and Bush
Administrations.

The Senate convenes today at
9:30 for a period of morning business. No roll call votes are scheduled
for today.
