With no votes scheduled for
today Senators had the opportunity to come to the floor to speak on
subjects important to them. Minority Whip, Senator Harry Reid of
Nevada and Majority Leader, Senator Bill Frist of Tennessee, spoke about
the schedule of the Senate and what issues would be considered during the
remainder of the first session of the 108th Congress. The Senate is
now adjourned until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3, when it will
consider the Conference Report for the Iraq/Afghanistan Supplemental
Appropriations bill. At 5:00 on Monday, a voice vote is expected on
the conference report for the bill. The Senate will then consider
the Interior Appropriations bill for sixty minutes before voting on final
passage.

A.M.
Last night was a late night,
during which the Senate passed H.R.2800, the Foreign Operations
Appropriations bill. The Senate is in adjournment today until 10:00,
at which time they will be in a period of morning business. The
Majority Leader has announced that on Monday the Senate will begin
consideration of the conference report to H.R.2691, the Iraq/Afghanistan
Emergency Supplemental Appropriations bill, with a vote on the report
expected at 5:00.
