Leahy Recommends Vermonters
For U.S. Service Academies

  . . . Releases His Annual List

(FRI., Dec. 20) – Senator Patrick Leahy has released his list of 26 Vermonters who will compete for appointments to the United States Service Academies.

By obtaining a congressional nomination from Leahy, these Vermonters are now eligible to compete for appointments to the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.; the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md.; the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colo.; or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y.  Those who are offered appointments by the academies will receive full scholarships and graduate as commissioned officers in the military. 

The nominees are:

* Lisa J. Haggarty of South Burlington (Air Force, Naval, West Point, and Merchant

            Marine Academies)

* Michael C. Hill of Northfield Falls (Air Force Academy)

* Matthew J. Krayewsky of Vergennes (Naval Academy)

* Marin L. LaCroix of Bondville (Air Force Academy)

* Ryan C. Lorraine of Colchester (Naval, Air Force and West Point)

* John S. Mattson of Essex Junction (Air Force, Naval, and West Point)

* Andrew J. McCormick of St. Albans (Naval Academy)

Nominees who receive academy appointments will enter the class of 2007, which begins during the summer of 2003.
