Leahy Unveils Vermont Travel Info
Kiosk
In His Capitol Hill Office
WASHINGTON
(Friday, Oct. 23) – U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) has unveiled a new
tool to convince visitors to his Washington office to set their vacation
sights on Vermont. He has added a touch screen information kiosk
to his Capitol Hill office, just off the heavy foot traffic of the
corridors of the Russell Senate Office Building.
The
user-friendly, easily navigable kiosk can also be found at Welcome
Centers throughout Vermont and connects to the Official Vermont Tourism
Site (http://www.vermontvacation.com/).
High
quality images beckon would-be tourists, alongside information such as
foliage reports, news from around the Green Mountain State, weather, and
seasonal activities. The kiosk’s most useful resource may be the
Travel Planner that helps users chart their own detailed itineraries for
their Vermont retreats. Users can browse through lists of
lodgings, restaurants, events, attractions, recreation and shopping to
optimize their vacation experiences.
The touch
screen kiosk includes links to the official Vermont state government
website and Vermont Life Magazine, as well as information about
Vermont’s regions, history and transportation. As a personal
touch, the kiosk’s screensaver rotates through a small collection of
Leahy’s personal photography of Vermont’s vaunted scenery.
Sometimes
known as “the cyber senator” for his enthusiasm for and leadership on
technology issues, Leahy was the second senator to launch a website and
now the first to launch a travel kiosk. “It’s another great way to
harness technology to tell Vermont’s story,” Leahy said.
