Letter of Support

If you are applying for a federal grant, you may request a letter of support from Senator Leahy's office to accompany your application. 

In order for Senator Leahy to advocate on your behalf, he will need some basic information about your grant proposal.  Below is a list of the details that he and his staff will find most useful.  Please submit this information by postal mail or e-mail, or simply provide his office with Federal Form 424 and your Project Abstract.  Keep in mind that specifics on how your proposal will help Senator Leahy best advocate for you; so please include how your proposal will benefit your community, why your application is unique, and why it is deserving of federal funding. 

Specific information to include with your Project Description or Abstract:

  1. Organization name

  2. Name/ Address/ Phone Number of Primary Contact or Project Manager

  3. Name of Federal Agency to which you are applying

  4. Name of the Grant Program and Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CDFA) Number

  5. Project Title

  6. Project Description or Project Abstract

  7. Town/ County/ Population Group that will benefit from the funds

  8. Amount of funds requested in the application

In addition to weighing in with the agency on your behalf, Senator Leahy is able to track the grant process through its entirety.  His office is often contacted in advance when a grant application has been approved and he can pass this information on to you when decisions have been made.
