Historic Sites

Mount Vernon:  George Washington Parkway, Alexandria, Virginia  The beautiful historic home of George and Martha Washington sits on 500 acres of gardens and forest trails.  The estate is open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.

Old Post Office Building Observatory and Pavilion:  Pennsylvania Avenue between 11th and 12th Streets, NW, 202-606-8691  For one of the best views of the city, do not miss the newly renovated Old Post Office Building.  The Building is open weekdays 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and weekends 10:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Union Station:  Massachusetts Avenue between 1st and 2nd Streets, NE, 202-289-1908  The classic Beaux-Art design of this historic station accommodates everything from movie theaters and restaurants to a Metro station and Amtrak stations.  The Station is open daily 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Washington National Cathedral:  Massachusetts an Wisconsin Avenues, NW  The grounds of this massive cathedral contain picturesque gardens and two schools.  The Cathedral is open to visitors weekdays 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Sundays 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
