Arthur M. Sackler Gallery:  1050 Independence Avenue, SW, 202-633-4880  This gallery features exhibits of Asian and Near Eastern art.  The Gallery is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.

Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden:  7th Street and Independence Avenue, 202-357-1300  From Gerhard Richter to Juan Munoz, this museum contains an excellent collection of contemporary art.  The Hirshhorn Museum is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.

National Air and Space Museum:  600 Independence Avenue, SW, 202-633-1000  This museum outlines the history of flight through the Wright Brothers' plane, Lindbergh's "Spirit of St. Louis" and even the Apollo 11 Lunar Excursion Module.  The Air and Space Museum is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.

National Gallery of Art:  Between 3rd and 7th Streets on Constitution Avenue, NW, 202-737-4215  Visitors flock to this gallery to view its rotating exhibits and extensive permanent collection.  The National Gallery is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and Sundays 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

National Museum of African Art:  950 Independence Avenue, SW, 202-633-4600  The museum features one of the largest collections of African art, this museum contains more than 7,000 objects in its permanent collection.  The Museum of African Art is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.

National Museum of American History:  14th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW, 202-663-1000  The original 42-foot Star Spangled Banner rests in this collection of American artifacts which also features Julia Child's Kitchen and Abraham Lincoln's top hat.  The American History Museum is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

National Museum of the American Indian:  4th Street and Independence Avenue, SW, 202-633-1000  One of Washington, D.C.'s newest additions, the museum features collection, preservation, study and exhibition of the living cultures and history of the native peoples of the Americas.  The American Indian Museum is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.

National Museum of Natural History:  10th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW, 202-275-2030  This museum contains everything from dinosaur fossils to arctic research to moon rocks.  The Natural History Museum is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.

National Zoological Park:  3000 Connecticut Avenue, NW, 202-673-4800  This popular zoo combines cheetahs, pandas and orangutans with foliage and winding walkways.  Be sure to stop by the zoo to visit the newest attraction - the baby panda.  The zoo is open 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily.
