[Westford]  I have with me in my classroom about 15 5th and 6th graders from Westford Elementary.

[Sen_Leahy]  Could you tell me how the archeology project is going?

[Westford]  I am Mrs. Grant and I will be delighted to turn over the keyboard to the real pros.

[Sen_Leahy]  5th and 6th grade is a lot different than when I was in school.

[Westford]  I'm doing a web site with my friend Zea as a report on archeology

[Sen_Leahy]  I will look forward to seeing what you and Zea do.

[Westford]  Are you ever on a commity that has to do with archeology?

[Sen_Leahy]  My foreign operations subcommittee has sometimes funded some archeology projects abroad and another apppropriations committee funds them in this country.

[Sen_Leahy]  I thought St Mike's would be a good school because of it's size and it had a good program in my major. I still feel it is one of the finest small colleges. I than went on to Georgetown Law School.

[Sen_Leahy]  Vermont is a very small state but in the United States Senate our voice is the same as a large state like California. As a native Vermonter I wanted to be there to help Vermont.

[Sen_Leahy]  I was elected in 1974 at the age of 34. I am in my 23rd year here. When I make my decision on running it will be based on whether my seniority will be helpful to Vermont.

[Westford]  I was wondering what you are doing in the agricultural department to help Vermont farms and what we can do to help.

[Sen_Leahy]  The best thing right now for our dairy farms would be approval of the Northeast Dairy Compact which I helple write. Another thing would be to increase the export of Vermont food products to other states.

[Westford]  Can we help?

[Westford]  Hello.. my name is Billie. I did a play with some friends on the archaeology project.

[Sen_Leahy]  You should also talk with the state Department of Agriculture in Montpelier and ask them what they are doing to encourage exports of Vermont food products.

[Sen_Leahy]  I try to keep evenings open when possible to be with the family and we all like to gather at my tree farm in Middlesex Vermont. I talk with our three children every day by phone [they are now adults]
